What is the title of the Drama production this year?
Not telling and you can't make me... you'll find out in late December when you
come to the auditions for Drama Club.
Who are the directors of Drama Club?
Myself and Mrs. Roa.
Is Drama Club open to all 6th graders?
Yes. You must be able to get a ride to school early (7:45AM) to be able to
participate. You must also have your grades in good standing. It will help if
you are the best person you can possibly be, too. ALL the time...
Does everyone get into the production?
NO. As much as we love every one of you, no. But that's life. If you don't
make the production this year, keep trying- there's always junior high and
high school.
Do you really love us kids?
Yes. Even the funny-looking ones... You are the reason we do what we do! And
if you don't believe me, then I'm going to have to HUG you all.
Why don't you do more that one musical in a school year?
Because ONE production takes about 5-6 months. For the directors, it's more
like 8-9 months. There is so much time devoted to creating a production of
this size, you can't even imagine. We build this production from the ground up
with a team of 3 teachers and 60+ students.
For the 4th and 5th graders who ask, drama club has been and always will be a
sixth grade activity. Please respect that. :)
How did you select the drama club crew members ?
The crew "auditions" have been going on since we've met you. This past year
was the toughest crew selection ever. We had so many wonderful, enthusiastic
and responsible kids that it pretty much came down to putting some names in a
hat and selecting them blindly. We're lucky to have SO many awesome kids. But
just like real life, not everyone gets the opportunity to participate at one
time. Don't worry, there's always next year. There's ALWAYS another time!
Do you have a question for us?
Yes- can and would you PLEASE stop writing on my music room clipboards? I
will happily give you scrap paper on which you can doodle or draw pictures of
each other wearing moustaches, beards and eye patches...
Do you like dogs? Cats?
I love LOVE love dogs! One of my summer jobs is dog-sitting. Dogs make the
world a better place. And cats are SOOOO funny. Just ask Killian. Or check
out his blogging.
Do you miss your students who have gone on to junior high and high school?
Absolutely positively without a doubt in my heart.
Going anywhere fun this summer?
Um..... yes! SCOTLAND! I HAD THE BEST TIME EVER! You guys are LUCKY I came
back! Hahaha
How many boyfriends do you have now?
Oh, so many... like 537... or more. I am faithful to every one of them, too.
Just ask the Mahoney Brothers... all 3 of them...
Do you like getting all of those Scooby gifts?
What I do love is that my students are so thoughtful! I think I have enough
"Scoob" thingies for the time being. If you want to give mea gift, how about
just a smile or a high-five or a hug? I won't say "no" to Barnes and Noble or
Borders... or some really good shortbread...
Who is Harry Connick, Jr?
He is my favorite jazz musician. He's a composer, pianist, arranger,
conductor, singer, actor and all-around good human being. He was born and
raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. His music is incredibly fun and exciting.
Check out his new Christmas Album! And, yes, he is my (fake) celebrity boyfriend.
Who is THOR?
He is my adopted black labrador retriever dog puppet. But he thinks he's a
real dog so please don't use the "puppet" word when he's around. He's very
gentle, sweet and loving, and has a great sense of humor. He enjoys laughing
with children.
Why do you sometimes not wear shoes?
I like my feet to feel free... to express themselves... plus, I trip a lot
when I wear shoes, which is very funny... I'm barefooted RIGHT NOW!
If you could be Queen of the World, what would you do first?
...wait a tic ... you mean I'm NOT Queen of the World? ...
Is Killian really out of his mind?
Yes. I fear for his mental health sometimes. He is one crazy cat. Thanks
forall the new nicknames for him; Spazz, Mr. Fluffypants, The Orange
Torpedo,Bigfoot...
