What is AIS?

AIS means Academic Intervention Services.  These services are 
provided to all students based on test scores, teacher 
referrals, and individual needs. 
Our goal is for all students to score at atleast a proficient 
level(3) in English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and 
Social Studies.

Who must receive AIS?

AIS is mandated for all students who have not attained a 
proficient(3) or advanced(4) level on the New York State 
Standardized tests.

Will my child need AIS next year?

Students are re-evaluated every year.  See the calendar link for 
exact dates.  Once students are proficient, they no longer 
receive AIS.

What services are provided?

The AIS teacher works in collaboration with the regular 
classroom teachers. Lessons vary depending on the needs of 
individual students and classroom schedules.  Students may work 
in small groups in the AIS classroom, or with the AIS teacher in 
their regular classroom.
