Meeting Minutes

Liberty PTA meeting

March 6, 2008

LMS cafeteria 6:30

Attendees: Debra Fuchs Nadeau, Marisa Bossert, Robert Martinelli, Glenn Ramirez, Madelyn Grisafe, Jeri Finnegan

Kid's Corner : Ashley Bossert

Minutes: Madelyn read Feb. meeting minutes.

Motion to accept: Debra, seconded Marisa. vote: unanimous

Treasurer's Report: Glenn reported a balance of 19,000.

Old Business:

·   TV FREE Week's approved plan for 3 days* April 23-25, 2008 is as follows:

-One night LES (pajama reading party with milk and cookies) DEBRA

-One night LMS gym (show for 5-8 grade students: interactive performer) MARISA

-One night LMS gym (show for all ages k-8) BOTH

*There are only 3 nights due to days off and Passover beginning.

OBJECTION rose about nights being specialized for age groups. Jeri preferred that all nights be open for all ages.  Marisa pointed out that the Poetry Rappers were not suitable for the younger children and there are only 3 to 4 PTA volunteers that are always working these events for crowd control. That it is an unsafe ratio to have 300 to 350 people in attendance. In the past, there were issues with children in unauthorized areas of the buildings.

SUGGESTION was made to postpone TV free week. Until more planning and info could be done.

·   PENNY SOCIAL: date and location confirmed (Marisa) also on TWC Community Bulletin

            1. Glenn will do his bank and some local businesses, Madelyn will solicit the other banks and newspapers, Bridgette will do the Shop rite Mall, and Marisa will go to the Mall in Middletown as well as the surrounding stores. She will also do WSS Inn, Monique's Books, Catskill Harvest Marketplace, Liberty Pet Center, Liberty Agway, Everlasting Springs Garden Center, Napoli's Pizzeria, 52 Pick-up Mobil Station. Another meeting will be held before the spring vacation to sort through the stuff and to firm up volunteers and their jobs.

New Business:

            A. Requests from various LMS / LES faculty and staff

1.      LMS would like the PTA to pay for breakfast during the NYS test week.

2.      Mr. Martinelli would like a projector and dvd/vcr player for the cafeteria. This would help for large presentations as well as on inclement weather days during recess. Discussion was TABLED until a request form is filed with prices.

 B. Author's Day LES is working on an author and a date.

             C. Debra requested that the LES and LMS principal's price out class trips for every school's grade level so the PTA can pay for something this year. Jeri and Bob agreed that this was the way to go. Marisa motioned, Glenn seconded - VOTE: unanimous

             D. Debra has a Town Hall Meeting April 3rd, so there will not be a regular meeting, but there will be a Penny Social meeting to tie up loose ends.

Adjourned: 8:15 PM
