SCHOLARSHIP SUMMARIES
Silverman Law of Schenectady, NY is offering scholarship opportunities
to Capital Region students grades 7 - 12. Scholarship Awards will be
presented two (2) times per year in May and November with the top three (3)
students who qualify receiving awards as follows:
-1st place: $250
-2nd place: $150
-3rd place: $100

ACHIEVEMENT WEEK - Omega Psi Phi Fraternity
This contest is open to all college-bound high school seniors who are
actively enrolled in High School or a recognized Home School program.
College scholarships are awarded to the winners, each of whom must submit an
essay on a theme/topic chosen by the fraternity. This years Essay Theme
is: “How has President Obama influenced your life/career goals and
aspirations?”
Submission date from the student to Nu Tau Chapter is November Friday
November 13th. Essays are to be mailed to Willie M. Dean, Jr. 1852 Eastern

KFC COLONEL'S SCHOLARS
KFC Colonel's Scholars is looking for high school seniors with financial
need and an entrepreneurial spirit to qualify for the KFC Colonel's Scholars
Program.

"SALUTING GREATNESS: THE LEGACY OF DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING JR" ESSAY CONTEST
The NYS Department of Education is offering an essay contest to honor the
memory of Dr. King. Students may submit essays or artwork to celebrate and
honor Dr.King's principals. Details re: the application can be found in the
guidance office.

JOHN F KENNEDY PROFILE IN COURAGE ESSAY CONTEST
The 2010 Profile in Courage Essay Contest is available online at

Students must submit their essay prior to January 9, 2010 to be considered
for this scholarship.

NEW YORK WATER ENVIRONMENT ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIPS
The NYWEA is offering a total of 6 $1,500 scholarships this year. Two to
children of NYWEA members, two to students enrolled at a college where there
is a NYWEA chapter, and two to high school students who will be enrolled in
an environmentally related four year program.

DOROTHEA DEITZ MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
The Women in Physical Education in NYS is offering a scholarship to provide
financial assistance to selected women students planning to major in
Physical Education Teacher Education. Scholarships range from $6500 - $4500.
