SCHOLARSHIP SUMMARIES

Silverman Law of Schenectady, NY is offering scholarship opportunities 
to Capital Region students grades 7 - 12. Scholarship Awards will be 
presented two (2) times per year in May and November with the top three (3) 
students who qualify receiving awards as follows:
-1st place: $250
-2nd place: $150
-3rd place: $100

JOHN F KENNEDY PROFILE IN COURAGE ESSAY CONTEST
The 2010 Profile in Courage Essay Contest is available online at 
www.jfklibrary.org
Students must submit their essay prior to January 9, 2010 to be considered 
for this scholarship.

NEW YORK WATER ENVIRONMENT ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIPS
The NYWEA is offering a total of 6 $1,500 scholarships this year. Two to 
children of NYWEA members, two to students enrolled at a college where there 
is a NYWEA chapter, and two to high school students who will be enrolled in 
an environmentally related four year program.

SEFCU – Credit Union Association Scholarship
$1,000 and $500 awards are available for all college-bound high school 
seniors who are SEFCU members.

JENKINS MEMORIAL PTA SCHOLARSHIP
Available to seniors who are planning to pursue a career in teaching and

Available to a high school junior or senior who best exemplifies the 
dedication to youth and zealous volunteer community service for which the 
late Stanley Marcus was known.

DR. SEUSS'S OH, THE PLACES YOU'LL GO! 2010 COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
$5,000 scholarship award
Essay Question - Dr. Seuss's Oh, the Places You'll Go! delivers an important 
chances and the troubles that life presents. Thinking about the book, Oh, 
the Places You'll Go!, what kind of opportunities and challenges do you 
think your education will present in the future?

GOEDECKE SCHOLARSHIP
CapCom is offering a $2,000 scholarship to any students who might be 
interested in pursuing a degree in Computer Science or Information 
Technology.

The Zonta Club is offering $500, $1000, $3000 scholarships to students who 
are committed to the volunteer and public sectors, show leadership 
achievements, and are dedicated to the advancement of women.

DOROTHEA DEITZ MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
The Women in Physical Education in NYS is offering a scholarship to provide 
financial assistance to selected women students planning to major in 
Physical Education Teacher Education. Scholarships range from $6500 - $4500.

THE AT&T SNF BBB SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY SCHOLARSHIP
The AT&T and BBB “Science and Technology Scholarship” recognize college 
bound students in their senior year of high school.  Scholarships are based 
upon leadership, community service, and extra-curricular activities

ASSOCIATION OF FIRE DISTRICTS “NED CARTER” SCHOLARSHIP
In keeping with Ned Carters life of community service and dedication to 
helping others, these awards will be presented to those young people who 
will be pursuing a career in the Community Service related areas of endeavor 
at either a two or four year college next year.

LANSINGBURGH LITTLE LEAGUE
This $1000 scholarship is awarded to a graduating high school senior who was 
a graduate of the Lansingburgh Little League program. Selection criteria are 
based upon character, achievement, and financial need.

VETERANS OF LANSINGBURGH SCHOLARSHIP
The Veterans of Lansingburgh is awarding a scholarship to a graduating 
Lansingburgh senior who is a child or grandchild of a Veteran who served on 
active duty in the Armed Forces or was a member of a Reserve or national 
Guard component and was either honorably discharged or is still in that 
capacity.
