College testing: SAT/SAT II/ACT


SAT�s -        
Scholastic Aptitude Reasoning Test

Students are encouraged to take the SAT in the spring of their Junior Year 
and again in the fall of their Senior Year.  The SAT measures verbal, 
mathematics and also writing ability.  This assessment is often used by 
colleges as one of their many admission criteria.  There is a fee associated 
with the SAT.  If a family is experiencing financial hardships and qualifies 
for free/reduced lunch a fee waiver is provided for students.

ACT�s -        
American College Testing

Students can take the ACT in either their Junior Year and/or their Senior 
Year.  The ACT measures students English, mathematics, reading, and science 
abilities.  There is also an optional Writing component to the assessment.  
This assessment is also used by many colleges as on of their many admission 
criteria.  There is a fee associated with the ACT.  If a family is 
experiencing financial hardships and qualifies for free/reduced lunch a fee 
waiver is provided for students. We encourage students to take both the SAT 
and the ACT as some students may score higher on one assessment.

SAT II�s -  
Scholastic Aptitude Test � Subject Specific

Students are encouraged to take SAT II�s.  These exams measure subject 
specific content in the following areas (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, 
Mathematics, Spanish (and other languages), World History, Literature, US 
History.)  Students are encouraged to take these assessments after they have 
finished the course that coincides with the subject test.  Many competitive 
colleges encourage/require students to take 3 SAT II�s.  There is a fee 
associated with each subject test.  If a family is experiencing financial 
hardships and qualifies for free/reduced lunch a fee waiver is provided for 
students.
