Welcome to Regents Earth Science.
Two letters were sent home in September for parent signatures - one for
lab safety and one regarding the lab requirements for the course.
LABS: The lab requirement for Earth Science is the same as all other
Regents science courses. The students need to satisfactorily complete an
equivalent of 1200 minutes of lab work (approx. 30 labs)to be admitted into
the regents exam in June. Students who do not meet this requirement will not
be allowed to take the exam and will take a local exam in its place.
LAB PRACTICAL: This year, a portion of the Regents exam is a hands-on lab
practical which will be taken sometime in late May. Students must practice
their lab skills in lab classes all year to prepare for this portion of the
exam.
REVIEW BOOKS: Review books have been purchased by the district and have
been isued to all students. They will be used all year long in addition to
the textbooks (texts will remain in the classroom unless signed out
individually).
