About The Teacher

I grew up in White Sulphur Springs and graduated from Liberty High School in
1976. I attended SUNY Cobleskill, and graduated with an A.A.S. Degree in
Recreation and Park Management in 1978. After graduating I was employed as
the Director of Parks and Recreation for the Town of Liberty, as well as a
Police Officer for the NYC Department of Environmental Protection. I
continued my education at SUNY New Paltz, earning my Bachelor's Degree in
1991 in Elementary Education. In 1998 I earned my Master's Degree in
Instructional Technology (Computers in Education) from the New York
Institute of Technology (N.Y.I.T.). I have previously taught 1st and 3rd
Grades in the Liberty Elementary School, and am now teaching 5th Grade in
the Liberty Middle School.

I reside in White Sulphur Springs, am married 25 years, and have two
daughters, Nicole and Katelyn. Nicole has worked in the theatre industry in
NYC for a few years, currently lives in Tennessee, and is completing her
education in Theatre at Middle Tennessee State University. Katelyn attends
SUNY Oneonta in Oneonta, N.Y. majoring in Math Education. Mrs. Sostak is a
Math teacher at the Liberty High School.

I have coached boy's football and baseball, and girl's softball and soccer
while at Liberty, as well as assisted with the Nordic ski team. Outside of
school I am active in the Liberty Free Methodist Church. I enjoy all types of
outdoor sports, including hunting, fishing, cross- country skiing, and
hiking. Past interests include 15 years of training in and teaching the
Martial Arts, earning my 2nd Degree Black Belt in the Zen Do Kai Martial Arts
Association. I am an avid bicycle rider, and enjoy my time riding through
the scenic highways and biways of Sullivan County and beyond.
