Dear Parent/Guardian;
Liberty is on the rise and we continue to strive for academic excellence. In
our effort to do so, we have established a set of homework guidelines to
which your child will be held accountable.
Please review this with your child and indicate that you understand by
signing below. Have your child return this form to his or her homeroom
teacher.
„X	In the 5th and 6th grades, a student who turns in a homework
assignment one day late will only receive a maximum of 75% of the full credit
for the assignment. If it is two or more days late it will be graded for
assessment, but receive no credit.
„X	In the 7th and 8th grades, a student who turns in a homework
assignment one day late will only receive a maximum of 50% of the full credit
for the assignment. If it is two or more days late, it will be graded for
assessment, but receive no credit. In high school credit bearing honors
classes, students will not be given the one-day grace period. Papers will
be assessed, but given no credit.
„X	Every child will be asked to turn in a paper, whether a homework
assignment is completed or not. The child who did not complete his/her
homework will be asked to turn in a paper with a name and a reason the work
was not done. Teachers will have a form for the child to hand in.
In the case of absences, these guidelines will be followed:
„X	Single day absences ~ If a student is absent from school, they are
given three days for every day absent to make up homework.
„X	Long term absences ~ there are sometimes extenuating circumstances.
These should be discussed between the parent and teacher, the school nurse
and, if necessary, the principal. Parents should first talk to the teacher
about arranging to pick up work. Parents should also place a phone call to
the nurse in absences longer than a couple of days. In exceptional cases, a
tutor can be assigned in situations of long term care needs. The principal
arranges tutoring if warranted.
Thank you for your attention to this important part of your child¡¦s
education.

Sincerely,
Mary Greynolds
