The Meadow Pond School Store!
Next Open Wednesday, 12/9 to students in 1st  thru 5th grade during their lunch/recess period.

 If you would like to participate, remember to bring your money!

Meadow Pond School Store  2009-2010 Schedule:
One Wednesday of each month during recess/lunch period:
December 9th
January 20th
February 24th
March 24th
April 21st
May 19th
June 9th
The school store will be opening soon and we invite your children to participate. School stores have been around for many years and are fun and educational. They provide a wonderful opportunity for "hands-on" learning. The students who apply and have an opportunity to work in the store will learn the fundamentals of running a business including accounting, marketing, inventory, staffing, and other retail principles. Their experiences will promote responsibility, teamwork, and leadership.
The student customers will gain everyday math experience by budgeting and calculating their purchases.
The school store, in essence, will serve as a "living classroom" providing a fun platform for learning. 
 
Here are some quick facts about the store:

  • The school store will be run once a month in the cafe during lunch/recess.

  • All items will be $1.50 and under. With the majority $1.00 and under.

  • Examples of items offered are pens, pencils, crayons, erasers, colored pencils, two pocketfolders, and pencil cases.

  • If ever there is an issue with anything purchased it may be easily returned for full refund.

  • Participation is optional.

  • This is a PTA sponsored venue and is not a fundraiser. In the event that profits are made the student "employees" will determine how to spend the money to benefit the school.  

  • Students in 3rd and 4th grade may apply to work at the store. Depending on the number of students we will try and allow all applicants a chance to participate in some fashion. Most likely, this will involve working as part of a group of students for one of the monthly openings. Examples of responsibilities include: cashier, inventory, buyer, advertising, bagging, customer service, and so on.

  • We need parent volunteers. If you are interested, please send Jennifer Weis an email for times and dates.

  •        Applications for 3rd & 4th graders to work at the School Store are available under Downloads.
