Follow the links in the resource section to collect; a. Pitcher’s ERA, Win and strikeouts for the last 3 years. b. Hitter’s batting average, stolen bases and home runs for the last 3 years. Record that data on worksheet #2 Use worksheet #3 to create a line graph for each of the statistical categories. a. Remember to give each graph a title b. Remember to label each axis, and give them scale c. You will have six graphs, 3 per player, when your are finished. Use worksheet #4 to calculate the mean, or average, for each statistical category. Visit the resources section for a link to calculating mean. a. First, total the numbers from each year. b. Divide by the number of years collected. c. You may use a calculator for ERA and batting average. Follow the links in resources to find pictures of the players, team logo and stadium. Create a collage for each player on posterboard provided by the teacher which includes; a. A title, most likely the players name. b. All of the worksheets you completed. c. Pictures of the player. d. Logo of the team he plays for. e. Anything else you choose to add. You and your partner will present your collage and your prediction on whether or not they will be elected to the Hall of Fame. To help you decide, consider the following; BATTER If the current trend continues, would your player's Batting Average (BA) be above .275? If your player continued to hit Home Runs (HR) at their current pace and played for 15 years, would they have more than 500 when they retire? If your player continued to Steal Bases (SB) at their current pace and played for 15 years, would they have more than 200 when they retire? PITCHER If the current trend continues, would your pitcher's career ERA be below 3.00? If your pitcher continued to produce Strikeouts (SO) at their current pace and played for 15 years, would they have more than 2100 when they retire? If your pitcher continued to produce Wins (W) at their current pace and played for 15 years, would they have more than 300 when they retire?
