About The Teacher

Mr. Soper attended Franklin Academy high school in Malone, NY.  He was a 
member of the Wind Ensemble and Jazz ensemble for 4 years, choir for 3 years 
and Swinging Sounds for 2.  

He received his Bachelor's Degree from the State University of New York 
College at Fredonia in Music 
Education and his Master's Degree from the Crane School of Music at the 
State University of New 
York College at Potsdam in Music Education.  

While in attendance at the Fredonia School of Music, he was a member of the 
Symphonic Band for 4 
years and the Brass Ensemble for 2 years.  Mr. Soper was also a member of 
the Fredonia State 
Leadership Corps, which helped instruct and promote the aspects of effective 
leadership to students 
throughout western New York.  

Mr. Soper has been an active brother in the Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia music 
fraternity since 1998.  
Currently,   Mr. Soper is an active member in the Adirondack Wind Ensemble,
has performed with the Champlain Valley Oratorio Society Orchestra and is a
substitute for the 
Adirondack Brass Quintet.  He is also an active member of MENC 
(National Association for 
Music Education), NYSSMA (New York State School Music Association), 
NYSBDA 
(New York State Band Directors Association), and KDP (International 
Honor Society for Educators).  Mr. 
Soper is currently the secretary for the Franklin County Music Educators 
Association.

Mission For The Class

It is the purpose of my classes: 
1) To develop a deeper understanding of America's music;
2) To foster music's important role in the enrichment of the human spirit;
3) To inspire and promote future activities in music;
4) To develop an understanding and appreciation for music from all over the 
world.
5) To allow music into EVERYONE's life, not just a select few.
