Can my child be in school with Fifth's Disease?
Fifth Disease is a viral infection which affects the red blood cells. It is caused by a human parvovirus and seems to occur in elementary age children more often. A low grade fever, tiredness and red rash (generally appearing on the cheeks first) By the time the rash is evident the person is probably beyond the contagious period.Back to Top

Students are reffered to their physician for diagnosis and treatment. Students with purulent discharge should be excluded from school. They may return to school once appropriate treatment has begun. GOOD HAND WASHING is stressed.Back to Top
