November 9-13
Spelling - Unit 11 spelling words this week - Students will have spelling
sentences due on Tuesday.
Reading - Students should be reading 20 minutes nightly. We are reading
Stone Fox (Mrs. Salerni's group is reading an alternate book) and James and
the Giant Peach for the next few weeks. This week,
we will focus on compare and contrast, character attributes, and
comprehension. The next independent reading book should be read completly by
Friday.
social studies - The next few weeks will be spent learning about the
Pilgrims. This week we focus on their community and Plymouth Rock.
Characteristics of communities will be fully discussed.
science - Our study of plants will continue this week. Students will be
beginning their seed germination experiments and discussing the life cycle of
plants.
handwriting -We are focusing on legibilty in handwriting.
ELA - The components of paragraphs will be discussed. Students will be
writing much more this quarter.
