| This year in reading, students will be exposed to many types of literature.
They begin the year by reading a fantasy novel entitled, Top Secret by John
Reynolds Gardiner. Students will also read survival, historical fiction,
realistic fiction and mystery novels. In addition, we will study poetry,
plays, short stories and nonfiction.
Help Opportunities:
I am available for extra help afterschool, flex periods and lunch time.
Studetns are asked to arrange a time for extra support when they are
struggling within a topic.
Homework:
Students should expect to read fifteen minutes, four nights a week and
respond in writing to me once a week. This will not begin until
October...we all need a little time to settle into the school year. Once we
begin independent reading, there will not be additional reading homework.
Current Unit: Literary Elements (setting, character change, and theme) and
Written Response using Shiloh by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor
