This page is for teachers use only. This webquest is for grades 2-4. It teaches students about the Life Cycle of a Butterfly. It also teaches the students Butterfly and Caterpillar Anatomy. There are four Roles that the students must complete. There is a lot of work that goes with these Roles. Materials needed are: Worksheets (see below) and blank paper. Students should work with a partner to complete the webquest. Worksheets necessary for the webquest are found on the link below. Worksheets that the students will need are: Butterfly Anatomy, Caterpillar Anatomy, and Butterfly Life Cycle. Optional is the Life Cycle of a Butterfly booklet and Butterfly Life Cycle Sequencing Cards. If you choose to give your students the Butterfly Life Cycle Sequencing Cards, they will complete them during Role 2. You must give students specific directions and the criteria for completion of these cards because none is listed for them. Some roles have suggested readings. If interested, you may purchase them at a book store for your students to read. You could also create a follow-up assignment for this webquest by using the suggested texts.
