I grew up in Newburgh and graduated from NFA. I received my B.A. in Spanish
and French from SUNY Cortland. My M.A. is in Spanish from Middlebury College
in Vermont. I also studied in Spain and Switzerland.
After joining the WCSD in 1983, I moved to Wappingers Falls. I enjoy
living in the Hudson Valley. Besides teaching ESL, I have also taught
foreign langauges in VW and RCK. I love teaching, working with my students,
and meeting people from all over the world.
On September 16, 2006, I got an 11 week old black female Pug puppy whose name
is Gemma -- which means "gem" or "jewel" in Italian. Pugs came from China and
are thought to be one of the original breeds of dogs. They were exclusively
for the Chinese emperors. History implies that is was forbidden for a person
to own a Pug! She is a wonderful dog!
I would like all my students not only to learn English, but also maintain
their first language. Being bilingual in today's world is a big asset! Good
Luck to all of you! ! !
