Research Project (9th)

We will, as a class, explore how to construct a research paper.  Each part of the project will consist of both group work and individual assignments.  We will also read tips on writing history papers from several university writing centers.  By the end of the year you should have a good grasp on the various parts of a research paper and the process by which you assemble one.

You will be graded on the pieces you produce by yourself and on your group work.  You will also provide an assessment of the work produced by others in your group.  The peer assessments will be part of your grade.

**** You will need a separate folder for this project. All parts of the project should be kept in the folder. ****

We will work on some of the following parts of a research paper:

-                     Starting your research

-                     Documenting your sources

-                     Taking research notes

-                     Forming a thesis

-                     Constructing an outline

-                     Writing an introduction

-                     Assembling the body of the research paper

-                     Revising the paper

Visit the History Links and Resources section of this website for some of the materials we will consult.
