Home Learning Policy

"Home Learning" serves as a necessary practice and reinforcement in subject
areas. It is also very important for establishing good work habits, self-
reliance, independence and responsibility.

Reading should be done daily if our goal is to create a community of
lifelong readers. Should a busy evening or weekend fill one’s schedule
occasionally, children should read for longer periods when time permits.

Home Learning is to be done neatly and carefully. High quality work is
expected.

If Home Learning is not turned in on its due date, it is to be turned in on
the following day. The children will not receive a “Homework Raffle” that
day.
There are consequences for incomplete Home Learning.
•	1st offense: warning
•	2nd offense: warning
•	3rd offense: missed recess
•	4th offense: missed recess & note sent home

Good work habits throughout the year will be rewarded with NO HOME LEARNING
in June (with the exception of nightly reading)!

Homework passes may be given out for different reasons throughout the year.
These passes are good for one portion of your Home Learning, not an entire
night’s worth of Home Learning Learning.

Home Learning will not be given over the weekend or over vacations.
A child may choose, however, to work on a long-range project to lighten the
homework load during the week.
