Parent Members

The additional "Parent Member" of the CSE ("Committee on Special Education") or CPSE ("Committee on Preschool Special Education") is a parent of another student with a disability who resides in the district and whose role at the meeting is to bring another perspective as a parent of a child with a disability to the discussions and decision-making process. This individual can also help parents to understand and participate in the meeting by explaining procedures, asking questions, and clarifying information.

Would you like to serve as a volunteer parent member? The only prerequisites for being a Parent Member are that (1) you live within the school district; (2) you are yourself the parent of a student classified by the CSE or CPSE (though you may also be the parent of a student who was either declassified or who has graduated during the last five years); and (3) you are willing to volunteer your time to be of assistance to both other parents and the school district.
