"Learning to draw is really a matter of learning to see - to see correctly -
and that means a good deal more than merely looking with the eye."
-Kimon Nicolaides
Studio Art I is an introductory level, half-year course devoted to
developing visual perception, drawing, color theory, and painting skills.
Students develop skills in drawing, perspective, composition, shading, color
mixing, and painting. The second part of this course focuses on an in-depth
study of a still-life in charcoal. Students will also work on an acrylic
still-life painting focused on complementary color relationships.
Studio Art I may be counted for 1/2 credit toward fulfillment of the Arts
graduation requirement.
