We are moving ahead quickly with our math program and will be starting a new
topic - Topic 13, Measurement, Length and Area. Help your child with the
vocabulary words for this unit. They will be sent home soon.
During Social Studies, the students have been busy learning about the first
Thanksgiving and the Pilgrims. They will be completing a writing activity
comparing their lives to the lives of Pilgrim children.
A parent helper (probably Mrs. Volpe -- after I ask her), will be contacting
you to send in some items for our 2nd grade Thanksgiving feast. Second grade
teacher, Mrs. Coris, and her husband (a caterer/chef) have gratiously offered
again to supply (and cook) turkey and trimmings. Mrs. Coris' class will be
preparing corn muffins, Ms. McCain's class will be making stuffing, and our
class will be making applesauce. We will be asking volunteers to bring in
cider, juice and pies for dessert. The second grade teachers will be
providing paper goods. Our feast will be on Monday, November 23. Your child
will not need lunch that day.
