"The Quality of Our Thinking is Given in the Quality of Our Questions."
Dr. Linda Elder and Dr. Richard Paul
Teachers have always known that really good teaching lies in the ability to
ask the right questions. The right questions require students to critically
and globally think. When students are given this opportunity to put forth
their experiences of the world and apply it to new concepts, this is where
true learning takes place.
A group of fourth graders will get together each cycle to discuss some really
important questions students might have about the world. Each month this
group, under the advisement of Mrs. Weinrich, Oak Grove's Enrichment teacher,
will come up with an "essential question" that is relevant to students. The
questions will be posted each month on the school website. Look for the
section that says "Roads to New Thinking". Thanks to Ms. Dunn, our school
librarian, there will be relevant resources that can help parents discuss
these ideas with their children.
Take this opportunity to have important conversations with your child. Help
them develop "roads to new thinking" about the world.
