MID-TERM Review

You should do a considerable amount of review for the Mid-Term Exam during the CHRISTMAS VACATION and in early JANUARY.  The Mid-Term counts 1/6 of your year's grade. Following is a study guide to help you organize your review.  YOU must REVIEW...the class will not be doing this together.  BEGIN OVER CHRISTMAS and continue throughour January until the exam.  YOU CAN NOT WAIT TO THE LAST MINUTE TO REVIEW FOR SUCH A LARGE TEST.

THE TEST:  90 MINUTES ----100 multiple choice questions PLUS several constructed response (essay) questions.

• In the TEXTBOOK:  The exam will cover all topics in CHAPTERS 1 thru 10 (Pg. 2 to 259).  Go over all of the regents' review questions at the end of the chapters.  If you have specific questions, ask Bro. Henry.
• In the REVIEW BOOK:  Do ALL of the following several times.  READ the review book explanations and then "cover" your answers to "test yourself"; go back over the topics you are unsure of.
• Chapter 2: Pg. 18-31......Life functions, Cells, Tools of Biology, Biochemistry, Enzymes.
• Chapter 3:  Pg. 32-43......Photosynthesis, Cell Respiration, Heterotrophic nutrition, Transport in protists.
• Chapter 6:  Pg. 79-82......Cell division (Mitosis) & asexual Reproduction
• Chapter 1:  Pg. 1-17......Ecology.
• Lab Skills:  Pg. 135-144....Methods and techniques for lab work....highlight and do questions (will give answers in class during early January).
