Class 4-306 Daily Classroom Routines and Procedures
• School Supplies- Due to the concerns regarding the flu, we will no longer be sharing our school
supplies. Therefore students should have their own supplies stored in a plastic school box. Please
make sure that all of the supplies are clearly labeled with the child’s name. We are also encouraging
students to have their own hand sanitizer to keep in their desk. These procedures will help ensure
the health of the students and staff at PS 39.
• Homework Folders- It is extremely important to keep your child neat and organized. Therefore,
please read all letters that are sent home. It is important that you empty your child’s folder each
week. Look for homework, permission slips, letters, tests, work, class updates, and other important
information!
• Homework Assignments- Homework will be assigned daily and should be reviewed by a parent
or guardian. The purpose of homework is to reinforce skills that have been taught in class.
Therefore, it is crucial that children complete their homework assignments to the best of their ability
and hand it in the next day. The homework will be explained in class prior to being sent home, and
will be a reinforcement of the lessons being taught throughout the specified unit. Although, I remind
students about what they need to bring home, it is ultimately their responsibility to pack their bags.
All homework will be copied in a homework planner, which was generously purchased by the PS 39
PTA. Please encourage your child to copy the homework exactly as it appears on the homework
board, so that they know exactly what is expected of them. I will try my best to notify the students
about any missing homework assignments. Please refer back to PS 39’s homework policy regarding
the rubric for the number of missed homework assignments.
• Assessments- Throughout the year the students will be taking several tests. These assessments
are used as a teaching tool to facilitate instruction. I will be returning all assessments in a red folder.
Please go over the assessment with your child, sign the sheet and leave the assessment in the folder.
The assessment folder should be returned to school the following day. The folder will be returned to
you at the end of the school year.
• Math Reference Books- Every child will be receiving a Math Reference Book to use at home. This
is a valuable tool to help students refer back to concepts that were taught in class. It is also an
excellent tool for parents to use to help their child with mathematical concepts. These books will be
collected at the end of the school year.
• Behavior: All students are expected to follow the following 5 rules: Be prepared, be respectful,
be responsible, be honest, and be safe.
• Trips: We will be going on several trips this year. It is important to send in trip permission slips
and money on time. If a child’s permission slip is not returned, they will not be permitted to go on
the trip.
• Book Clubs: Every month I will be sending home Scholastic Book Club Flyers. Scholastic offers
great books at discounted prices. I highly recommend ordering the books online through the
Scholastic website: www. Scholastic.com/parentordering. The Class User Name is: msracioppo4 and
the password is Class4306. If you do not have access to a computer, please send the completed
order form and money into school by the deadline.
• Appointments: If you need to schedule an appointment with me throughout the school year
please send a note in with your child. I will be happy to arrange a meeting at a mutually convenient
time. You can also contact me via email at MsRacioppo211@aol.com. Students may also email me
(with parental permission) if they have questions or concerns.
We need to create a partnership. If what we do in school is reinforced at home, we will create a
better learning environment for your child.
