About Mrs. Fitz :)

Mrs. Fitzsimmons has been a member of the Wappingers School District
since her first day of school! She began AM Kindergarten at Oak Grove
Elementary and then moved on to a private elementary school in Wappingers.
Mrs. Fitz went to the Wappingers Junior High, RCK and then continued her
education at Dutchess Community College. Mrs. Fitzsimmons graduated from
SUNY Oneonta in 2001 with a BS in Education and has a Masters in Literacy
from Mercy College. Her first experience with Fishkill Plains was during her
student teaching placement in the fourth grade. Mrs. Fitz knew right away
that she wanted to work here and be a part of this fantastic school
community!
Mrs. Fitzsimmons is in her 9th year of teaching (WOW) and truly loves
what she does. She says she is surrounded by amazing people, fantastic
students, and great friends! Mr. and Mrs. Fitzsimmons have a two year old son
named Dean Anthony. He is expressing all the wonderful emotions that a two
year old discovers! Dean loves his Hot Wheels and even had a Cars birthday
party in June! Mr. and Mrs. Fitzsimmons are just loving parenthood and all the
little moments that come along with it :)

Mission Statement

I hope to instill great character in each child that enters my room.
I want children to learn all about the interesting topics in
third grade, but to also learn how to be a good person. The children are
encouraged to be an individual and not to follow. Respect is a huge focus in
room 8. The students are taught to respect themselves, each other, and their
surroundings. It is an invaluable character trait!
Third grade is truly a wonderful year. The children begin to be more
independent and take on many more responsibilities! They are empowered with
these new tasks and it is exciting to see their growth over the ten months
of school! The transition from second grade to third grade is surprising and
can seem a bit overwhelming during the first couple weeks of school. I promise
that you will see your children begin to emerge as independent learners and
workers. Get ready for a fantastic year!
                                              Fondly,
                                              Mrs. Fitzsimmons ;)
