FAQFrequently Asked Questions: This page contains answers to common questions of students and parents.
What happens if my child forgets to bring his/her lunch or lunch money? What happens if my child forgets to bring his/her lunch? Lunch will be provided for your child for two days if he or she does not have a lunch ticket, a lunch, or lunch money. If a free lunch is provided for your child, you will receive a written request for payment. If your child has a lunch ticket, this ticket will be used anytime your child does not have his/her lunch or lunch money. I strongly recommend that all first grade students have a lunch ticket. Please try your very best to have your child memorize his/her account number for his/her lunch ticket. If your child does not know his/her lunch ticket account number, it will be provided for the child by the lunch aide. I will gladly provide your childs lunch ticket account number at any time during the school year. The cost of lunch for a first grade student is $2.15. You may purchase a lunch ticket for any number of lunches. For example you may purchase a lunch ticket for two lunches ($4.30) or for 10 lunches ($21.50). Parents may make any kind of restrictions for the use of the ticket. For example, you may write a note stating that the ticket is only to be used when your child has not brought a lunch to school. You may also want to write a note restricting the number of days that your child can purchase ice cream each week. Some parents write a note restricting the number of snacks that the student may purchase each day with his/her lunch ticket. A refund will be given at the end of the year for unused funds on any childs lunch ticket, or the remaining funds at the end of the year will remain in your childs account for the following year. If you would like a refund for any remaining funds on a lunch ticket, please make this request in writing. If some reason, your child moves to another school during the school year, please do not forget to stop by the cafeteria to check for any unused funds on your childs lunch ticket. How do I get my childs homework when he/she is absent? When a child is absent, I will gladly send any homework home with a friend or a sibling. You can also pick up your childs homework at school. If a parent calls the Main Office (227-1770) and makes the necessary request, homework for an absent student is placed on a special table in the main lobby. All homework must be picked up before 4:00 in the afternoon. However, it is not necessary for parents to make arrangements to pick up homework for absent students. I will send home all homework and make-up work with students when they return from school after an absence. It is important for parents to remember that it is usually best for a student to take several days or, in some cases, a full week to complete schoolwork after an absence. When does my child have art, physical education (gym) and music?
