Dear Parents:

Well, we’ve completed our New York State tests for this year!  Onward...
	In Social Studies students are engaged in researching a hypothesis of their
choice about Ancient Greece.  Students have developed questions to drive their
research.  We are searching sites on the Net and using texts and reference
books to develop our projects.
	In Science we will begin to discover the world of chemistry as we learn about
matter, atoms, and the Periodic Table of the Elements.
	In Math, we are continuing our work with surface area.  We will create nets
which are three dimensional shapes, which will demonstrate our work.
	Spelling / vocabulary lists have been assigned.  There will be a test on
Friday, May 4.
	Next week is chocked full of activity. On Monday, we are going to the
Wildlife Refuge for an Earth Day Awareness activity.  Weather permitting,
Sixth Graders will ride their bicycles to this event.  Please be sure your
child brings his / her bicycle to school that day.  Helmets are a must!  If we
have inclement weather, we will ride the bus with the Fifth Grade to the Refuge.	
	Next Tuesday, is Walk, Run, Jog, etc. to school day.  We will also visit the
Middle School for the beginning in a series of orientations.  Wednesday we
will participate in Earth Day Awareness activities here at the school.
	Parent / Teacher / Student Portfolio Conferences are progressing well.  I
look forward to the remaining conferences.
