About The Teacher Label:
About The Teacher
Marcia Winter: I have been teaching at Quogue School for the past eighteen years. I love what I do and feel it is an honor to be part of such a wonderful staff and involved population of students and their families. It is a unique place and I look forward to coming here everyday. I hold a B.A. in elementary education and Masters degrees in special education and remedial reading plus an addition 60 credits. I am certified to teach elementary and special education as well as reading specialist. I have recently become certified as a yoga instructor for children. I have also spent quite a few summers teaching arts and crafts, cooking and yoga to children. Brittney Landsiedel: As a new teacher assistant in the Quogue School, I look forward to learn and develop great relationships with the students and teachers in the second grade. This year is going to be very exciting! In June I graduated from St. Joseph's College in Patchogue. While attending school, I started student teaching all along the eastern end of Long Island. During my spare time I love to draw, play a round of golf with my dad, and go biking down to the beach.
Mission Label:
Mission
The goal for second grade students is to create a stimulating and nurturing environment that speaks to the “whole child.” Children will develop and expand skills in language arts, math, science and social studies while becoming independent workers. Interactive projects in reading, math and content area subjects are introduced through hands on activities, discussions, presentations and field trips. Whether students work independently, with partners or in small groups kindness and harmony are key ingredients. Building self esteem and developing respect for one another are always stressed. A love for nature, caring for our planet and concern for other human beings are all woven to the fabric of second grade.
