Dear Parent(s):
This week we will begin a short unit about Native Americans. We will read the
stories: Little Runner of the Long House, Red Fox and His Canoe, Happy
Hunting Blue Sky, Little Owl Indian, and The Raven. Some of the projects will
be: making an Indian girl or boy, retelling a story, completing an Indian
classification activity, and making a totem pole.
In reading we will read the story “Zoo Looking” for our shared reading.
Children will work in guided reading groups and at workstations. I will also
be completing some individual reading assessments in preparation for progress
reports.
In math we will take an addition test on Tuesday and we will begin
subtraction on Thursday.
This week’s spelling packet is coming home today. The packet is due on
Friday. The spelling test will be on Friday.
This week’s homework project is an addition page. It is due on Friday along
with the reading activity.
Bags of Books should come back to school on Thursday this week as there is no
school on Wednesday due to the Veteran’s Day holiday.
I will be sending home a book order on Thursday. If your child wishes to
order books the order form and money should be into school by Friday,
November 20th.
The marking period ends this Tuesday. I am sending home conference letters
today. Please return the RSVP by this Friday. If the assigned time is not
convenient please let me know and I will contact you about a new time.
