I have been teaching for 28 years. I started my teaching experience in West
Palm Beach, Florida, in 1980. I taught second grade for 8 years, then came
to Salamanca, NY, in 1988. I taught second grade, third grade, and then
landed in Kindergarten. I thought that Kindergarten would be fun, but never
thought that I would love it as much as I do. The students have a joy for
learning, which makes it easy to create an excitement for the unit that is
being presented.
I am married to Victor Wojtowicz and we live in Killbuck, NY, with our
daughter Holly (who is 16). I grew up in NewBedford, PA, with 4 brothers
and 3 sisters in a house where my mother still resides. When I was growing
up, I used some of my siblings as my first pupils to gain some early teaching
experience!
My mission is to provide a positive learning environment where each child
feels valued as a contributing member of the class. I want the students to
become excited about reading, writing, and learning new information. I
believe in positive reinforcement so I use lots of praise, stickers, and a
warm fuzzy jar to reward good behavior. I have high expectations, but I also
have a good understanding of this age level, and what is reasonable to expect
at this level.
