FAQFrequently Asked Questions: This page contains answers to common questions of students and parents.
How long will my child have speech therapy? Good question, but no definite answer. It varies from student to student. One of the most difficult aspects of therapy is carryover to spontaneous conversation. Sometimes it takes a while for a student to master a skill to the level of spontaneous conversation. Will my child miss a lot of classroom instruction by coming to speech? The teacher and I work together to find the best possible time for the student to come to speech. We do not pull a child from specials, or classroom instruction. Nor do we want the child to miss the fun stuff too. My child is four and says 'f' for 'th,' is that normal? It could be that your child will outgrow it. It is common for 4-year-olds to have difficulty with "th." If he/she continues to make the error at 6 or 7, then it may require remediation. |
