A child may receive a speech-language screening at any time throughout the
year based on a teacher or parent referral. All children entering
kindergarten will be screened in the spring prior to entering kindergarten.
Children who will be coming to Pre-K at Prospect will receive a speech-
langauge screening as well. New students entering our district will also be
screened.
A speech-language screening is a tool used to determine whether or not
further speech-language testing is needed. If a student does not pass the
speech-language screening, then a comprehensive speech and language
evaluation would be recommended. A speech-language screening does not
indicate whether or not a student would qualify for speech-language services.
