News/Upcoming Events-
Library book exchange- on D days from 9:00-9:15.
Box Tops- please continue to send in box tops for our school.  Our class is close to collecting 1,000!! 
School Supplies- many students are running low on supplies like: pencils, crayons and expo markers.  Please ask your son or daughter if they need any new supplies.  Also,  we have only a few tissue boxes left, if you are able to send in a box, we would really appreciate it.  THANKS!
Third Grade Sports Day- Tues., June 11th will be our Sports Day, a rain date is scheduled for Tues., June 18th.  More information will be coming home soon.

Weekly Update-  Every week this section will be updated to inform you of what we will be learning about in each subject. 
Math
Topic 13: Perimeter
This week in math,we will start a new topic on Perimeter. 
*Please continue to practice both multiplication and division facts at home.  Flash cards are a great way to practice!!

**We will take addition, subtraction & multiplication Timed Test as well as mixed facts for the first part of the school year. Please continue to practice these basic facts at home.  The students have 5 mins. to complete 100 +/- facts.

ELA  
Unit 5-Cultures

This week we are reading the second story in Unit 5 called "I Love Saturdays y Domingos."  Some of the skills we will be working on are: main idea and details, comparitive and superlative adjectives, homophones, and writing a personal narrative.
** I will be sending home a "Family Times" newsletter at the beginning of each week that gives information about the story we are reading, the skills we are learning, activities to do at home and vocabulary words for the week.  Please take time to read this newsletter over with your child.  Thanks!

Science  

Unit C- Ch. 4 Clouds and Storms
We are now starting a new chapter in science.  This week we will focus on the water cylce and read a play about the steps in the water cycle.  We will have a quiz on this chapter early next week.

Social Studies
We will finish up our unit on China this week and test out on Tues. 5/21.  We will be starting a new unit on Brazil, later on in the week.
