A Note to Students:
For those of you curious to know more about me and my philosophy, I
grew up in Columbia County, New York where I developed a deep appreciation
for apples and agriculture. I love being outdoors, hiking, camping, fishing,
bird watching, and kicking the soccer ball around with my two beautiful kids
and husband. I also love to cook, shop, travel, and read.
I knew from a very early age that I wanted to become a teacher. I enjoy
helping students realize their ability to make a difference in the world. I
am grateful to have served on the Hagan Elementary School staff for nine
years now. I enjoy watching students apply the skills and lessons they learn
to their life.
I believe that you have the potential to do exactly what you want in
life. Education is the key tool in unlocking your dreams. I see myself as a
guide who will coach you, along with assistance from parents and faculty on
your educational journey. Come to school with a receptive mindset of
acquiring as much knowledge as possible and be prepared to persevere through
challenges. Make a conscious decision to apply yourself each day and you
will be able to observe growth in yourself.
In our world’s ever changing times, you are under more and more
pressure to compete with others. It is important for you to take a
responsible role in your education to become productive citizens and find
your dream jobs. It will be expected that you complete assignments to your
personal best and treat yourselves and others with respect and integrity.
I am very excited to be a part of such a dynamic and exciting year
in your education. You have the ability to make it a rich and meaningful. I
look forward to working with you.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Boyce
Dear Students:
Here are a few details about me. I am a Poughkeepsie native, and
graduated from FDR High School in Hyde Park. I have a degree in business
from Albany State College, but after working in the business world for a
while, I decided to follow my true calling and go back to school to become a
teacher. I have my Master's Degree in education from Mount Saint Mary
College in Newburgh, and have been teaching in Spackenkill schools since
2003.
I love coming to work every day and working with children. It is so
exciting to see students learn and gain confidence and pride in what they
can do. I have two sons, Daniel and Connor, who keep my husband and I very
busy after school and on weekends with sports and other activities.
I am looking forward to an exciting and productive year and feel
privileged to be one of your teachers.
Sincerely,
Mrs. LaGasse
Students who learn together, learn to live together.
