READING:
We
are almost near the end of our second reading unit, and students will be
assessed before the holiday break. They should be reviewing all stories and
vocabulary lists from their reading journals on a nightly basis. We are almost
finished with our class novel as well.

MATH:
Students
are having a great time conducting surveys and making all types of line, bar,
and pie graphs. We have used Microsoft Excel and created some stunning graphs
to display our data! Our unit is almost over and students will be tested
before the winter break.

SOCIAL
STUDIES:
CONGRATULATIONS
to all students in our class for passing the NYS social studies exam! Our
class had exceptional results, with 4 students (21%) earning a passing score
of 3, and 15 students (79%) earning a perfect score of 4. All students should
be very proud of their accomplishments. They certainly know their history!!!
We are now focusing on Native Americans and European Explorers now through
January.

SCIENCE:
We
are in the middle of our second science laboratory on plants. A major written
report is due on Friday, December 11th, which is similar to the format used
for the actual science fair. On Monday, December 14th, we will begin our third
and final in-class laboratory on bacteria. I just can't wait to see what's
growing in Room 12! YUCK!

LANGUAGE
ARTS:
Students
are almost finished with their unit on nouns: common, proper, singular,
plural, singular possessive, plural possessive...the list goes on and on! They
will be tested before the winter break and should be reviewing their packets
nightly.
