My child wants to join Chorus. When can s/he join?

Students may join chorus beginning in 3rd grade.  There are 2 groups, one 
for the 3rd graders and on for the 4th and 5th grades combined.  Permission 
slips are required to participate because students rehearse before school, 
from 8:15 to 9:00pm.  Parents are responsible for transportation to the 
rehearsal.  The permission slip suggests several options to see that 
your child gets to school safely.

My child wants to play an instrument. When can s/he start?

Students may participate in the Strings program beginning in the 3rd grade.  
For questions regarding specifics of the string program, please contact Ms. 
Valentine, the string teacher during school hours on Tuesday or Thursday 
(Nassau) at 463-7843.

Band begins for students in 4th grade.  This is because, unlike string 
instruments, the instruments' size cannot be changed to accomodate the size 
of the student.  Therefore, the student needs at least another year of 
physical growth to be successful in the band program.
