How should I or my parents contact Mrs. Barnett?
I can be contacted through the guidance office (463-7830), or by email. I
usually check my email before school, and again at night usually around 8pm
or so. Parents- You may also send a note in your child's planner, which I
will sign after I see it.
What happens if I do not complete my homework on time?
Homework must be completed on time. If it is not then you will receive a
Homework IOU which will be signed by your parent. You will also be required
to stay after school for extra help with the assignment. If the assignment
is not completed by 3pm the day it was due, whatever amount of work that is
completed will be graded. If you choose not to stay for extra help,
you will receive a grade of zero for the assignment.
What happens if I cannot stay after to complete an assignment?
If you cannot stay after to complete an assignment because of another
obligation outside of school, special arrangements must be made with me
before you miss after school help for the assignment. If you have a club
meeting, you must stay to complete the work with me before you meet with the
club.
What do I do if I miss a day of school?
If you miss school, the notes and activity pages can be downloaded from the
handouts page. You should also look on a friend's in case we colored them
or added more information to the pages. If you have questions, you are
welcome to stay after when you return to ask those questions!
What happens if I am pulled out of class for music lessons or TAG?
I will try not to schedule a science lab if there are pull outs, however
sometimes it cannot be avoided. What ever you miss you are required to stop
by that day to get any assignments or notes. You will have the same due dates
as the rest of the class. I would encourage you to stay after school for
extra help and to get questions answered.
***The notes that you missed will either be in your table folder or in the
missed work folder on
the board. Your group members should write your name and the date on the
papers handed out in class and put them in the folder. In case your group
members do not put your papers in the group folder, extra copies can be found
in the crate which is located on the floor in the under the hanging folders. The
white crate is for Language Arts and the blue crate is for Science all extra
papers are located here.
**Asking me for notes between classes or during another class is not the
best solution. These questions would best be answered after school when
proper attention can be given to each student.
Staying after school to learn the material is still the best option.
What happens if my computer or printer does not work?
If you are having computer problems, you can come to school between 3 pm and
5pm to work in the computer lab. If you are having printer problems, you can
use a flash drive to bring in your work to print or email the work to me and I
will print it. Your documents can also be uploaded to Google Documents and
shared with me. (teachwclas@gmail.com) There is no excuse not to have the work
on time.
What happens if my reading journal entry is late?
If your journal entry is more than 3 days late a zero will be given for a
grade. If you turn in your journal within the 3 days, there will be points
taken off as described in your journal rubric.
Can I do extra credit or retake a test or quiz?
There is no extra credit as you are expected to complete the work that is
assigned because is it practice or reinforcement of a skill or concept that
has been taught. There are also no retakes of tests or quizzes.
