An Adverse even reporting system implemented pursuant to NYS Public Health Law and is the current incident reporting system for the hospitals in NYS. They are helpful in reducing Medical Errors because they provide a source of information for health care systems improvment. NYPORTS provide a means of collecting adverse outcome information through identifying, tracking, trending and analysis of occurrences. This means of collecting contributes to patient care quality and safety as well as reduces the incidence of medical errors.
