Just a reminder that there are still vacant stars on our "STAR WALL" located in the Elementary
School entrance. This fundraiser is an ongoing program and a star may be purchased at any
time. You may purchase a star for your family, children, teacher, or as a gift. Many stars and
bricks are left awaiting names to be imprinted on them. The children enjoy seeing their names
up on the wall and all of the money raised benefits the Elementary School.
Please inquire in the main office for a brochure with all of the details. Thank you for your
continued support. Prices are listed below.

HISTORY OF ST. DOMINIC ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Monsignor Charles Canivan arrived at St. Dominic Parish in the year
1914 where he began his incredible 30-year tenure as pastor. He broke ground
on what would be the first catholic elementary school on Long Island in 1922.
The sisters, {Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary}, from Scranton PA,
came in 1924 to open the school. They registered between 48-60 children in
each respective class. Students in first grade ranged from 5-7 years old.
Presently, we are happily teaching grades Pre-K through 8.
