Who is Mrs. DeAcutis? I am a teacher that loves her job!! This is my 4th year at St. Jude.
My philosophy about teaching is that EVERY student can and will learn. Nothing should stop anyone from learning. We are a team and together, school, teacher, parents, and students we can achieve anything. We must ALL work together to ensure that the students are getting the education that they deserve.
Expectations from ALL of us;School: provide a safe secure environment for every student. Review the handbook for school rules and policies.
Teacher: I will present clear concise lessons that will excite and engage every student. I will meet and exceed all expectations from the state and the archdiocese. Keep lines of communication open to the parents and the school.
Parents: guide and help the students to have a positive and successful year. Make sure homework is done every night, do not do it for them. Keep lines of communication open to the teacher.
Students: be respectful to each other and themselves. Listen and participate in classroom discussions and lessons. Homework is to be completed every night and returned on time.
Personally, I have been married for 14 years and have 3 children: Micheal 15, Katie 12 and Joey 9. They are my world. Everything I do is for them. That is how I also feel about my students and classroom...everything I do is for them. As a family we play sports, enjoy movies, and just have fun together.
On the professional level, I have my Masters Degree in Education from Mercy College and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Art from Sacred Heart University. I hold three New York State certifications in Childhood Education grades 1-6, Special Education grades 1-6, and Visual Arts. I am also a certified catechist (religion) for the Archdiocese of New York for both levels 1 and 2.
