The fourth graders won a pizza party from the Greece Fire Department! We
will be having our pizza party on Tuesday, December 15th during our regular
lunch time! Thanks Fireman Pete!
PARENTS: I do not allow students to check their Tuesday Envelopes in class
when they receive them. These envelopes are meant to be looked through at
home. If students have corrections that need to be made, they may bring home
necessary materials the next day. Corrected work may be handed in as late as
the following Friday.
On Monday, December 7th I will be out of the classroom for a conference.
The students will be working on an end project for their literature study
books this week. They will need to bring some small items from home into
school on Friday. More details on Tuesday...
In Social Studies, we are continuing to study explorers. This week we will
begin a book called Pedro's Journal. It's about a young ship's boy on
Christopher Columbus's ship. While we are reading this, we will begin to
pretend we are on an explorer's ship coming to the area of NYS. The students
will be writing their accounts in the first person and we'll be talking about
point of view. The students will need to design a cover for their journal at
home. The explorer journal writing will be done in school.
Another point of view activity we will be doing is we are going to retell the
Nativity Story from a different point of view. Students will either pretend
to be Mary, Joseph, or the donkey Mary rode on to Bethlehem. We will be
watching the DVD Silent Night, The Story of the First Christmas which is the
Nativity Story told from the point of view of the donkey. After watching the
video, the students will begin to write their own retellings.
We will be wrapping up the math, with a test on December 16th.
