Phew! We did it! Our week of assessments is over! Good job everyone.
We had a few kids out all week, but nothing as bad as 3rd grade and 5th grade,
keep doing whatever you're doing to keep the kids healthy! If you haven't
sent in any hand sanitizer, please do so, we could use it!
Next week is the Veteran's Day concert, and the kids sound wonderful. Because
of the short week and the increased practice schedule, there will be no
spelling words for that week.
In math we are doing some graphing, then we will get back to the math book and
work on the next chapter, chapter 3.
We are wrapping up the Iroquois and will be moving on to the Explorers. There
won't be an end of the unit test, I will be doing something else to assess
their knowledge of the Iroquois.
In Science we are going to learn about animals in our Life Sciences section.
In religion we are working on bullying and treating others with kindness and
respect. The following week we will be working on a service project to make
centerpieces for a nursing home.
Starting next week the children will begin literature cirlces in class where
they will be reading novels and discussing them in class. They will usually
have a task assigned to their reading assignment which will facilitate their
discussions during class time. Ultimately the children will be leading their
own literature circles while I sit with different groups each day. Mrs.
Calvaruso will be helping out with our literature circles as well. The
students will be picking books based on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choices, then I
will be assigning their books based on interest and ability. Not everyone
will get their first choices.
Thank you for your continued support in everything we do! God Bless!
