 Welcome

Welcome to our school!    We are pleased to share our mission of educating the whole child with the greater learning community. As team members, the parents, grandparents, family members, parish members, faculty, staff and administrators work hand-in-hand to guide and direct our students.   We know that our greatest challenge is to develop students who hold excellence as their goal and standard in academic performance, civic leadership and the spiritual life.   Our students know that for them, we have high expectations, and they strive to meet and exceed our expectations.   Together we can create a learning environment that challenges each child to take their place as the leaders of tomorrow rooted in a strong faith, guided by sure and dependable knowledge and equipped to make clear choices resulting in their success. We welcome the involvement of all members of the community and recognize that it is an honor to work side-by-side in the education of all of our students.

The heights by great people reached and kept, were not attained by sudden flight. But they, while their companions slept, were toiling upwards through the night!

Dear Parents, Grandparents and Friends of St. Mark’s Day School:

Thank you for all you did to make the first Open Day of the school year a success. We had many visitors most of whom arrived at school saying that a current parent or grandparent had told them of St. Mark's Day School. Each of you is a blessing to the entire school community and we trust that you will continue to promote the school to your friends.

The children and teachers continue to prepare for the Spring Concert. Keep your eyes on the website and look for reminders of all upcoming events sent home in student backpacks. The Spring Concert is scheduled for Friday evening, March 26, 2010 from 6 - 8:30 pm [doors open at 5:30 pm] and will be held at the George W. Wingate Campus at 600 Kingston Ave., Brooklyn 11203.

Thank you in advance for all that you will be doing to support the students as they shine at the upcoming concert. This year the concert’s theme is Remembering the Past, Celebrating the Present, and Anticipating the Future and is a culmination for Black History Month as well as a celebration of Salvation History as we move through Lent into Easter.

This is a huge undertaking for the children and teachers and I hope that you and your families and friends will do all that you can to promote and attend the concert. Already, the little ones have been working on their presentations and throughout this month the upper grades will be sharpening their presentations.

This will be a prayerful celebration of our community with both spiritual song and readings and poetry from the scriptures.

On Wednesday, March 10th I will send out a detailed letter with ticket prices and reservation forms for your use. The evening and its entertainment is solely for the celebration and performance of the children. Come let us adore Him in and through the beauty and voices of our children.

Sincerely,

William D. Macatee
