On February 28th, Saint Martin de Porres held its annual science fair for the 5th through 8th grade students. There were 140 projects representing the various branches of science, including the fields of biology, chemistry and earth science.

During the morning, the students presented their projects to the judges. The projects were evaluated on initiative, scientific thought, thoroughness, skill, clarity, and overall appearance and creativity of the exhibit. Students also had to hand in a report with both a research and a lab component.

The students and their parents were able to view the projects that evening, and awards were presented by Mrs. Leahy and Mrs. Canfield.

Congratulations to all of our 5th through 8th grade students for their outstanding science projects.

On Saturday, April 6th, 16 of our students participated in the 2013 Dutchess County Regional Science Fair at Dutchess Community College, and amongst them, they won 17 awards. Congratulations!
