Welcome Message

Hi, I am Dr.Douglas J. Regan, and I am very proud to be the
principal of Starpoint Intermediate School, which will now serves
students in grades 3, 4 & 5 . For the 2009 - 2010 school year, we
anticipate just under 600 students in the Intermediate(3, 4 & 5)School.
All students will be carefully placed into their classrooms, and
parents will be notified by mail in mid-late August of these. My own
background includes teaching English to Junior/Senior high students,
being the Department Chair of the English Dept.,being a Curriculum
Coordinator, being an Assistant Principal for Elementary, being an
Elementary Principal, and my present position as Intermediate
Principal responsible for grade 3, 4 & 5 in the Intermediate
building. I have truly enjoyed the challenges of each position, but
am now very much committed to elementary education! Other programs
that we offer in the Intermediate School include Instrumental music
for 4th and 5th graders, Vocal music, Physical Education, Open/Flexible
Library, Critical Thinking Skills and Art. In addition we provide remedial
services in Reading and Math, Corrective Speech, OT and PT and, of course, a
comprehensive Special Education Program, too! Our district is fully
networked with computers/computer services and each of our four libraries is
fully automated! We are very fortunate to also have the services of a
Guidance Couselor, School Psychologists and Social Workers. During
the summer months, I meet with our More Effective Schools "School
Improvement Team," consisting of teachers, support staff and parents, and
develop a specific improvement plan for the year ahead. Every staff
memeber is engaged in some way, shape or form in this plan
throughout the school year. Students can expect to see me every day -
out by the buses in the a.m. and p.m., walking the halls/visiting
classrooms and even stopping by the cafeteria. Please continue to
check this web page for future updates and items/events of interest!
I update it on a regular basis. Don't forget to also watch for my
monthly "Good News" parent newsletter, which is typically sent home
during the first week of each month.
