Dear Parents,

Welcome to the Kindergarten website! This wonderful website is where you will come to find out important information pertaining to your child, their class, as well as their school. We are excited to meet your amazing children as they enter into the exciting world of Kindergarten! The Bronx Charter School for Better Learning is an outstanding place where your child will be nurtured and challenged. Your support is essential in achieving our individual and school goals. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the Kindergarten team.  Thank you in advance for your support. We look forward to working with you!

PARENT TEACHER COMMUNICATION

Parents are strongly encouraged to keep in contact with their child's teacher via notes, telephone, email or scheduling a conference.  It is highly recommended and appreciated that the parents or guardians sign the homework and reading logs on a nightly basis. If you have a question or concern, please write it in your child’s homework notebook and/or assignment book and we will get back to you as soon as possible. If the concern is urgent please contact your child's teacher at the school number (718) 655-6660 during school hours and the main office will connect you to our room.  We have every interest in your child's enjoyable and educationally challenging school year.

ABSENCES

If your child is absent or late to school, it is required they have a note sent to school upon their return.  This note should explain the reason for his/her absence or tardiness.

UNIFORM

It is very important for students to wear their complete uniform every day throughout the school year.  This is a school policy that helps to ensure the sense of community and unity in our school. In addition, please take note of what days your child has physical education.  All students should wear their "gym uniforms" to school on the days that they have physical education. Please contact the main office for any information about ordering uniforms.

HOMEWORK

Homework will be assigned on a daily basis.  Each Classroom Teacher will distribute a homework sheet to each student on the first day of each week (Typically Monday). This homework sheet will be attched to their homework planner books. Each homework sheet will contain assignments for the week as well as a note that will give appropriate updates for the week.  This homework sheet will also be available to you on the class website at teacherweb.com/NY/TheBronxCharterSchoolforBetterLearning/MrsMassett

                                                                                      SPELLING
This weekly homework sheet will also contain the spelling words or "words we should know" for the week. The students will not be formally tested on these words but are expected to practice them throughout the week during their homework time.

                                                                              HOMEWORK SHEETS
Students will be given
one homework sheet per week and are expected to be responsible for it through the entire week. This homework sheet is intended to improve communication between school and home. Homework will not be done during class time.  Homework is an essential part of your child's education because it reviews the concepts your child learned throughout the day while developing discipline and responsibility.

Let's make this year a positive and growing experience!  We would like to emphasize that these guidelines and items will better organize your child as well as allow for many cooperative learning days.  We appreciate your help and continued support throughout the year.  Please contact your child's teacher if you have any questions or concerns.  We look forward to sharing a happy and healthy school year with all of you!
