Rules

Please take the time to review the rules and procedures for my classes. the rules and procedures are the same for all classes.

My 5 Classroom Rules – My Expectations

1. Follow school rules:   Know and follow the rules and regulations provided in your student handbook.

2. Follow instructions: Follow instructions the first time they are given.

3. Be on time:   Be in the classroom and moving to your assigned seat at the late bell and begin your work immediately.

4. Be prepared:   Bring all appropriate books and materials to class every day.

5. Stay on task: All personal / individual comments, questions or suggestions that are not related directly to the completion of the material at hand should be addressed with the teacher after class or at another time.

If You Choose to Follow Rules and Live up to Expectations

Action

1 Week of No Demerits = 1 merit.

1 Week of doing a classroom job = 1 merit

1 5 min or less volunteer task = 1 merit

1 5-10 min volunteer task = 2 merits

If You Choose to Break Rules and not Live up to Expectations

Action & Consequence

Each time a rule is broken (including failing to follow directions): 1 demerit

Serious offenses: 2 or more demerits

Using merits and demerits for consequences

Demerits:

1 Demerit: Warning

2 demerits: 15 minutes detention.

3 demerits: 30 minutes detention.

4 demerits: 45 minutes detention, parents called.

5 demerits: 1 hour detention, written referral and student sent to the office.

Merits:

3 merits earn choice of 1 of the following for a week...

snack in class pass

drink in class pass

Hat / du-rag in class pass

cafe pass (one time use, >75avg)

HW pass (one time use, >75avg)

do now pass (one time use, >75avg)

*merits and demerits cancel eachother out and are cleared at the progress report or the quarter.

*All consequences are subject to change by Mr. Sipe

*Serious disruptions – student sent immediately to the office.
