How much should my band student be practicing?

All students enrolled in the band program at Van Wyck should be practicing a 
minimum of 150 minutes per week, which can be broken down into 25 minutes 
each day for 6 days a week.

What happens if my child doesn't practice?

The number of minutes each student practices correlates to a practice grade 
which is a part of their overall grade each quarter.  In other words, if a 
student does not practice, it is reflected in their grade.

Does my child have to attend their night-time concert?

Concert attendance is part of their grade.  The concert dates for the entire 
year were distributed in the first week of school.  If there is a problem 
with a concert date, please call Mrs. Hershman as soon as possible.

What is the dress code for all concerts?

Students are required to wear the following for all concerts:  white on top, 
(nice tops) - no tank tops, no spaghetti straps, no tube or strapless tops.  
Black FLOOR LENGTH skirts or pants on the bottom.  No jeans, sweat pants or 
wind pants.  Black shoes.
