What if my child is absent for a day?

If your child is absent we always have another student collect the work during
the course of the day. This work is turned into the student's first period
teacher and can be picked up first thing in the morning when s/he returns.

What if my child is absent for more than one day?

We will collect work for every day that a child is absent. So now the
question is, do you want the work to come home? If you want it to come home,
you can do the following:

    * Call guidance and let them know that your child has been absent for more
than one day and you would like to pick up the work at 3:00.

    * The guidance office will contact us, and we will send the work to
guidance where you can pick it up.

Does my child have to bring in a note when she or he is absent?

Yes. Your child is considered truant until an official note is received in
the attendance office.

The note should be brought to the student's first period teacher upon
returning to school. The note should have the following information:

*** Name of student
*** The words: 6th GRADE, written across the top of the note
*** Dates of absence
*** Reason for absence

What if my child needs to go home on another bus with a friend?

A note should be written and given to the student's first period teacher. A
note MUST also be written by the parent of the friend whose bus your child
will be going home on.

Each student should give the note to their first period teacher, whatever team
they are on. The
note should contain the following information:

*** Name of your child and the name of the child with whom your child will be
going home with.
*** A phone number where you can be reached should the school need to contact
you.
*** The friend's parent should also include the same information on his or
her note.

What if I need to pick up my child early from school?

A note stating what time you are coming to pick up your child should be written.

This note DOES NOT go to the first period teacher.

This note should be dropped off IMMEDIATELY upon arrival at school at the
attendance office (by the Tweetie Bird mural and ACROSS from the guidance office).

The student will be given an early dismissal pass with a time on it. The
student will show this pass to the teacher when it is time to be picked up.

What is the Team c policy on snacks?

We believe that snacks and water are important to sustain a student's energy
level throughout the day.

Of course when WE think snacks, we're thinking
healthy protein based snacks, not chocolate, chips, or snacks high in sugar or
carbs.

Students may bring a NON-frozen water bottle and snacks from home, and they
may eat them whenever they think they need to, as long as it is not a
distraction in the classroom and they continue to focus on learning.
