This is my fourth year teaching and my third year in this district. In my
previous life (first career)--
and before getting a Master of Arts in Teaching--I was a newspaper reporter
for five years.

The students will be working on interesting yet challenging writing and
reading assignments such as
short stories, novels, essays, personal narratives and poetry.
They will be reading, writing, and practicing listening skills on a regular
basis, thus helping to
prepare them for the annual statewide assessment as well as for their final
exam in June.
My goal is to involve my students in their learning, to relate literature and
writing to their own lives
and to have them using reading and writing strategies consistently so that it
becomes second nature
to them.
Another goal of mine is to get students excited about reading. I do this by
holding the Great 7D
Read-Off and offering extra credit in the form of Booktalks.
As long as the students come to class regularly, arrive on time and prepared,
get their work done in
and out of school, work cooperatively with the teacher and their peers,
students will be successful in
my class.
